Vicky, a recent graduate from Brighton University where she undertook a BA in illustration, Vicky produces graphic collages and illustrations. The main inspiration for her work comes from humorous social situations and the people and places that suggest them. Although her work has a contemporary feel often inspired by style magazines she likes her pieces to maintain a handmade aesthetic, using materials including coloured beads, card and fabric. The figures in my pieces are often based on characters I have drawn from real life. Sometimes I like to maintain a certain ambiguity about their identity by representing them as silhouettes. As someone who is interested and influenced by fashion two of her illustration heroes are Erte and Aubrey Beardsley.
